A fine and rare Russian Civil War 1919 Black Sea operations Meritorious Service Medal group awarded to Serjeant A.G. Petty, Royal Engineers, who previously having worked as a Clark with the London North Western Railway Company enlisted and served with the Royal Engineers Railway and Canal Troops. He would be awarded the Meritorious Service Medal in the London Gazette of 12th December 1919 for his service with the Army of the Black Sea. He would later become a member of the Masons and would be installed as Worshipful Master in the Liversage Lodge, Derbyshire in November 1944.

Arthur George Petty lived at Church End, Finchley before enlisting into the Royal Engineers on 24th November 1915 and initially seeing service as a Private, he would be promoted Corporal on 1st December 1917 and finally to Serjeant, serving with Royal Engineers Railway and Canal Troops and being noted as a Clerk with the London North Western Railway Company. Going on to see Great War Service he would also see service as part of the forces of the British Army who were present in the Black Sea region during the Russian Civil War.
He would be awarded the Meritorious Service Medal in the London Gazette of 12th December 1919 for his service with the Army of the Black Sea.
Later a member of the Masons, he would be member of Cordwainer Ward Lodge before transferring to the Liversage Lodge, Derbyshire where he would be installed as the Worshipful Master in November 1944.
Petty died on 23rd July 1960.
