A fine Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, C.B.E., Civil, and Great War pair to British Lawyer and Politician Herbert Neville Bewley, who served with the Labour Corps in France during WW1 and later served as Lord Mayor of Liverpool.

Herbert Neville Bewley was born in Birkenhead, Cheshire in 1890 and educated at Liverpool College and Wadham College, Oxford. He enlisted into the Labour Corps during the Great War and served in France as a Private soldier from March 1917 prior to being commissioned 2nd Lieutenant into the Labour Corps on 16 August 1917. His medals were sent to his home address at 9 Harrington Street, Liverpool.
He was elected to Liverpool City Council on 1 Nov 1931 as Conservative for Much Woolton Ward and made Justice of the Peace in 1944. Appointed Commander of the Order of The British Empire in the New Years Honours list on 1956, he went on to serve as Lord Mayor of Liverpool from 1859-1960. He was living in Hall West Road, Crosby at that time.
