Davis, 1st Battalion, East Kent Regiment – the Buffs saw service on the Western Front from 9th November 1914 until discharged unfit on 1st June 1915, the son Private, later Warrant Officer Class 2 J. Davis, East Kent Regiment – the Buffs saw service in Palestine during the Arab Revolt prior to the Second World War and remained in Palestine until October 1943 when he was returned to the UK serving as part of the Home establishment until the end of the war and being discharged on 31st March 1946.

John Davis saw service as a Private (No. L-6845) with the 1st Battalion, East Kent Regiment – The Buffs on the Western Front from 9th November 1914 until he was discharged unfit on 1st June 1915.
A Palestine Arab Revolt and Second World War Palestine and Home Service group awarded to Private, later Warrant Officer Class 2 J. Davis, East Kent Regiment – the Buffs who had seen service during the Arab Revolt in Palestine and during the Second World War remained in Palestine until October 1943 when he returned to the Home Establishment.

An official notice dated 7th October 1943 posting him to the Home Establishment noting his character is exemplary, that he is most dependable, cheerful and intelligent.

John Davis enlisted at Woolwich on 9th July 1934 and subsequently saw service with the East Kent Regiment (The Buffs) including during the Arab Rebellion in Palestine. He would remain in Palestine during the early stages of the Second World War and would only leave when transferred to the Home Establishment with effect from 7th October 1943. When discharged on 16th January 1946 his conduct was noted as exemplary and his testimonial states:
‘This man who has been a Warrant Officer for over 2 years and who was a N.C.O. before the outbreak of war in 1939 is a thoroughly reliable and trustworthy man. He is capable of taking a responsible position of trust and can be relied upon to give really first class service. He is honest, sober and hardworking.’
