He would later be awarded the British Empire Medal in the London Gazette of 4th June 1943 for his service as Works Manager, Chambon Ltd.

Albert Harry Abbott attested on 5th October 1914, giving his home address as 67 Cranleigh Road, Tottenham and saw Great War service as a Private (No. 3028) with the 3rd Battalion, London Regiment in Egypt from 19th April 1915 and then at Gallipoli from 15th September 1915 until 6th November 1915 and would survive the war being discharged due to sickness on 20th October 1916. He would later be awarded a British Empire Medal, Civil Division in the London Gazette of 4th June 1943 for his service as Works Manager, Chambon Ltd.
Later emigrating to South Africa, he died in Cape Town on 18th September 1967.
