A boxed Efficiency Medal, GVI 2nd type bust, Territorial suspension, awarded to Lieutenant later Captain W.H. Paine, Royal Artillery, Territorial Army, who saw service during the Second World War, being commissioned from the ranks in July 1941, he was awarded the Efficiency Medal in the London Gazette for 6th February 1947, and latterly lived in Strood, Rochester, Kent.

R.A.), housed in its original named card box of issue, and together with the forwarding letter for the award, confirming the gazette date for 6th February 1947, and addressed to: ‘Capt. W.H. Paine, 22 Goddington Road, Stroud, Rochester.’, dated 31st July 1952.

William Henry Paine was formerly serving in the other ranks of the Territorial Army, prior to being appointed as a Cadet to an Officer Cadet Training Unit and then commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant (No.197336) into the Royal Artillery on 12th July 1941. Paine saw service during the Second World War, and was a Lieutenant when he was awarded the Efficiency Medal in the London Gazette for 6th February 1947. The medal would be sent to him in July 1952 when he was shown as living at Strood, Rochester, Kent. Paine went on to be promoted to Captain, and was transferred to the Territorial Army Reserve of Officers on 1st January 1952.
