A Boer War pair awarded to Private P.C. Clarke, 19th Hussars who saw service in South Africa during the Boer War where he would take part in the operations in Orange Free State as well as in the actions at Laing’s Nek from 2nd to 9th June 1900 and then at Belfast from 26th to 27th August 1900.

Condition: heavy edge-bruising and contact wear throughout, naming affected at 3 and 9 o’clock and barely legible, thus Poor
Percy Charles Clarke was born in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk and giving his trade as a miller attested on 4th June 1889, he would initially serve at home, before travelling to India on 1st September 1891, where he would remain until 15th January 1897. He would return home on the 14th January 1897 and would transfer to the Army Reserve on 12th November 1899. He would rejoin on 13th November 1899 and travel to South Africa on 4th December 1899 where he would subsequently serve during the Boer War, taking part in the operations in Orange Free State, as well as in the actions at Laing's Nek from 2nd to 9th June 1900, and then at Belfast from 26th to 27th August 1900.
He would return home on 22nd May 1902 and would then be finally discharged on 7th June 1902.
