Walter Dimmock saw service as a Corporal (No. 2852) with the 4th Battalion, South Staffordshire Regiment during the Boer War during operations in the Cape Colony and at the action of Wittebergen.
Dimmock would also see service during the Great War as a Private (No. 10126) with the South Staffordshire Regiment on the Western Front from 17th December 1914 later being discharged on 14th December 1918.
