A Boer War Belmont, Modder River, Paardeberg, Driefontein, Wittebergen and Great War Western Front group awarded to Driver H. Edney, 7th Field Company, Royal Engineers who saw service in South Africa during the Boer War where he would be present in action at the Battle of Belmont on 23rd November 1899, the Battle of Modder River on 28th November 1899, in action at Paardeberg from 17th to 26th February 1900, at Driefontein on 10th March 1900 as well as at Wittebergen from 1st to 29th July 1900. During the Great War he would serve on the Western Front from 8th March 1915.

Henry Edneywas born in Richmond, Surrey, and attested at London on 13th October 1896 giving his trade as coachman. He would go on to see service in South Africa during the Boer War, serving with the 7th Field Company, Royal Engineers where he would be present in action at the Battle of Belmont on 23rd November 1899, the Battle of Modder River on 28th November 1899, in action at Paardeberg from 17th to 26th February 1900, at Driefontein on 10th March 1900 as well as at Wittebergen from 1st to 29th July 1900.
Sent home time expired from South Africa he would see service in the Great War where he would be present in France from 8th March 1915, earning entitlement to the 1914-1915 Star which is sadly no longer present with the group. He would survive the Great War and would be transferred to ‘Z’ Reserve on 24th February 1919
