F. Yates saw service as a Driver (No, 88684) with the Royal Horse Artillery on the Western Front from 5th November 1914, and later saw service with as a Private (No. 41737) with the Essex Regiment. His medals were later sent to the British Legion at Eccleston Square, London, SW1
