Arthur St. John Chadwick was born in Derby and attested at Bedford on 30th October 1913 and saw service as a Gunner, later Corporal with the 3rd Brigade, Royal Horse Artillery on the Western Font from 15th August 1914 and later served as an Acting Serjeant with the 4th Brigade, Royal Field Artillery. At the time of the 1939 Register he was living in Gillingham, Kent.
