1914-1915 Star awarded to Private G. Bristow, Berkshire Yeomanry, later Machine Gun Corps who saw service in Egypt from 22nd October 1915, and would be hospitalised with both pleurisy and malaria before he was disembodied on 4th May 1919.

George Bristow was a resident of Swallowsfield upon his attestation at Reading on 22nd April 1915 initially serving at home until 22nd October 1915 when he embarked for Egypt at Devonport. He would disembark at Mudros on 6th November 1915 and then at Alexandria on 30th November 1915, he would serve as part of the Western Frontier Force from 7th December 1915, being attached to the 17th Battalion, Machine Gun Corps on 13th January 1917, and being officially transferred on 7th March 1917.
Admitted to Hospital on 14th April 1917 suffering from Pleurisy, later rejoining his unit in the field on 8th August 1917. He would later be again admitted to hospital, when on 6th July 1918 he was confirmed as having Malaria, this would be a repeating affliction for the remainder of the war with other periods spent convalescing from the diseas before he was finally disembodied on 4th May 1919.
